WHO WILL GO FOR US?
We are in a season where the Lord is actively looking for who will respond to His heart cry. The heart cry is “who will go for us?” You may be wondering where the destination is.
You may also be wondering why the Lord who is the Creator of heaven and earth, doesn’t just force anyone He created to go on His errands. However when you are God and the Source of love, you want to teach your children to learn to love well by helping them make good choices. In other words, you give people the option to choose to love you or not. This is not easy, but a loving and gracious God like we have would do this. In this wise too, you have to give them the option to go or not to go.
The Lord choose to make man in His own image. He already had angels to do His bidding, so didn’t want that. Also, He specifically chose not to make robots. So you and I have the freedom to choice, within the confines of His Sovereignty.
Let’s begin with the account in the Temple in the year that King Uzziah died (Isaiah 6:1). We are told that while Prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz was praying, he had a vision. He describes that he suddenly saw the Lord, high and lifted high. As he looked, the train of His robe filled the room. Above him, he saw seraphim each with 6 wings. Isaiah was terrified, and watched as they flew calling to one another “Holy, Holy Holy is the Lord Almighty, the whole earth is full of His glory.” At the sound of their voices, the structures in the temple shook, and the temple was filled with smoke. (Isaiah 6:1-12). Isaiah admonishing himself, said he was ready to die because he was unclean, for he had seen the Lord.
One of the seraphim flew to Him with a live coal in its mouth and used it to touch him. This served to purify his lips and he heard the Lord ask, “ Whom shall I send and who shall go for us”. Isaiah immediately answered, “Here am I, send me.”
Notice that Isaiah didn’t ask about where God was sending him, or why or who he was to go with if any. He first had to respond, and then he received his commissioning and trusted God enough to explain things as he went.
A lot of times, we hear the Call, but delay walking into our destiny because we want Father God to answer all our questions and provide all the conditions before we think of responding. The Lord always desires to honour our ability to trust Him. It’s rather important because it shows we are prioritising His Lordship rather than hiding in our comfort zone. This is why in Psalm 23, David talks about the Lord being His Shepherd. If we don’t first acknowledge Jesus as our Lord, He cannot Shepherd us. Only when we have placed our Lord on the throne of our lives, can we trust Him to shepherd us. To place Him there, we have to come off and then come fully under His authority. This is when you see a life totally yielded to doing things God’s way.
Other times it’s the spirit of fear, and unbelief that could stop us from answering the Call on our lives. This maybe as a result of having a spirit of control. We try to control situations because we are afraid of what could happen. We feel we always have to be in the driving seat. However being in the driving seat is only helpful when we know the destination. God’s ‘Call’ on our lives doesn’t tell us that. You get there as you embark on the journey. God Almighty calls this faith. We are told that without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrew 11:6). This again, delays our ability to answer the Call on our lives.
Procrastination also may sometimes hold us back from entering into our destiny. It is said that, Procrastination is the “thief of time.”
Just as there is a “go”…in the Bible, we also see there is “come unto Me, ye that are heavily laden.” There are many instances where the Lord is drawing us to Himself. In Isaiah 55:1, we are invited to come and buy wine without money. The Lord seems to desire generally that we draw near and spend time with Him. You really can only give what you have received. When you go, it’s what you have received or what has been activated in you, that can be released.
There is a lot that you learn on the journey, but your relationship, through time spent is important, as this will aid your ability to passionately love, and to listen and to obey.
Finally, the destination is ‘the ends of the earth.’ The Lord desires that we take His message to the four corners of the world. How we go and the conditions concerning our going, we can trust the details to our Lord. He is Jehovah Jireh, so He provides all that we need to accomplish whatever assignment He gives to us. He only requires our commitment and obedience to say “Yes” to the assignment (Call) like Prophet Isaiah.
The rest He works out on the journey as we yield ourselves to Him daily.
May the Lord help us as we answer the ‘ Call ‘ on our lives.
