Plugging into God
We are created in Christ Jesus. We are joined to Jesus Christ the anointed one. We are a re- recreated people. There is only one Jesus Christ.
John 1: 1 – 5 tells us: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning . Through Him all things were made, without him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. That light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
We are all created in Christ to carry His light – but some of us have not plugged ourselves in. We have everything we need to shine – all we need is His connection. A lamp is wonderful, but if it is not connected to the source it does not show it’s true identity. It may look good, but is not fulfilling it’s purpose. Often we are like that – we know Jesus, but are not fully plugged in to Him and so we are not showing our true identity – we are not fulfilling our purpose.
Jesus is the One. Jesus Christ is God. He always has been and always will be. He was the Word at the beginning of time, and His Word continues to bring life and light to the world. He is both our Saviour and our Friend.
Sometimes our perception of Jesus is coloured by our experiences. At our first Sozo training many years ago, when I closed my eyes to picture Jesus, as instructed by our trainer, I saw a very traditional picture of Him, dressed in a white robe, as a mosaic in an oval frame. I then asked Him the question: "Who do I need to forgive for any incorrect view I have of you, Jesus?" As I chose to forgive those who had brought this mosaic picture into my life, Jesus strode right through that picture as it tore like paper and walked right up to me – I could see Him through my spiritual eyes just as I see people with my natural eyes. In a split second He showed me how these mixed beliefs had caused me to view Him as this mosaic God, made up of many different but non-living elements. I remember that encounter today as vividly as when it happened back then, and I was able to align with the full truth of who He is. Jesus came to redeem us from sin – from those destructive beliefs that can hold us back, and He gave His life for you and for me. The life of Jesus is an historical fact – many religions honour him as a teacher and prophet. We honour him as God, who was, and is and will forever be.
Two of the most significant events of my life were allowing Jesus to be Lord of my life, and being water baptised. We were all created in Christ, every one of us, and when we make the choice to accept Jesus as our Lord, we were re-created in Him. And as a people who are re-created in Him, we have both the privilege and the joy of living in Him both now and when we walk through the door to eternity. By committing ourselves to Him we plug in to all His promises for us, and allow our spirit to become activated to receive all He has for us. We are no longer bound by the world, but can live with our eyes on Jesus and heart plugged in to Him, who is always with us to help us navigate the challenges of life.
If you have never actively made the choice to accept Jesus as Lord of your life, today is the day to do so. It is a champions day , a day for winners – a perfect day to choose to make Jesus Lord of your life.
To do this, simply pray this prayer from your heart, and know that He hears you:
"Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask Your forgiveness. Thank you that You died for my sins, and rose again from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and my life. I place my trust in You as my Lord and Saviour. Amen."
