Embracing God's Unfailing Love Enables You Step Into His Agenda
OUR GOD LOVED THE WORLD SO MUCH THAT HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON, JESUS CHRIST, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. (JOHN 3:16)
GETTING TO KNOW HOW MUCH YOUR GOD LOVES YOU HELPS YOU TRUST HIM ENOUGH TO FOLLOW HIS AGENDA.
SO IMPORTANT WAS THIS THAT PAUL PRAYED ABOUT US GETTING TO KNOW THE LENGTH, BREATH, HIEGHT AND DEPTH OF GODS LOVE FOR US (EPHESIANS 3 v 14-19).
'1 JOHN 3 v 1' TELLS US ABOUT HOW LAVISH THE LOVE OF GOD IS FOR US. WHO WOULD NOT WANT TO EXPERIENCE THIS IN ITS FULLNESS.. ?
FOCUSING ON OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS IS IMPORTANT SO WE CAN GET TO KNOW HIM INTIMATELY AND EXPERIENCE HIS LOVE REGULARLY. THIS WILL HELP US BUILD TRUST AND FOLLOW HIM COMPLETELY. DANIEL SAID THE LORD IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR THOSE ON WHOSE BEHALF HE WOULD ACCOMPLISH EXPLOITS (DANIEL 11 v 32 KJV). THESE WILL BE THOSE WHO DESIRE TO FOLLOW HIS AGENDA, AND WE SEE THIS STEMS FROM HAVING INTIMACY WITH HIM.
One of my favourite people who understood this was David, a man God described as being after His Heart.
David knew his God. He loved Him with all his heart. He had spent time writing poems to Him, worshipped Him using the harp, and loved on Him in the secret place. He developed an intimate relationship with God, at a time when the Holy Spirit had not been poured out yet as Jesus had not yet resurrected. This was the time of the old covenant.
What's your time of devotion to God like. How intimate is it.? Do you have a journal where you write down what He says to you. Do you desire Him over and above everyone else.
Jesse, the father of David sent him to take some grain and 10 loaves of bread to his brothers who were in the Israelite army and on the battle front. David normally looked after his father's sheep. When he got to the battle field, David saw Goliath terrorising the Israelites army. He couldn't understand why the giant could dare the Israelites army like he was doing. Fear entered into the heart of the Israelites. They forgot that they were God's army.
But David had courage to go and fight Goliath. He strongly believed that with God's help, he could slay the giant, Goliath of Gath.
His courage was because he knew His God. He was in relationship with Him and knew He was alive. You can only follow someone who is alive, someone you trust, and you have a past history of interaction with.
David knew his identity. He knew he was in covenant with the only living God. David knew that God was on his side. David's relationship with God caused him to be filled with courage. He was able to win battles because he inquired of the Lord and knew God was with him.
When Saul tried to dissuade him, David told him that he had been preparing in the secret place alone with God. He told Saul how well he looked after his father's sheep. When a lion came and again when a bear came to take a lamb out of the flock, he went after it and killed it and rescued the lamb from their mouth.
WHAT PREPARATION IS PAPA CALLING YOU AND I TO DO IN THE SECRET PLACE AND TO TRUST HIM FOR THE OUTCOME?
Things happen when we step out that don't happen when we stay in the comfort zone. Only Peter knew what it was like to walk on water because the rest stayed in the comfort of the boat. We get to know that God can be trusted completely as we get to know and love Him, and follow His agenda.
We get to know that He can be trusted to show up as we follow His agenda. We have adventures with Him that we wouldn't have otherwise.
Look to the Lord to qualify you, not to the world that can reject you. Don't be surprised if you are one that isn't very popular and that you get mocked.
David was the youngest and his brothers didn't really have much regard for him. Papa loves to use people like these, because it's obvious that it's not their strength but His strength.
Don't expect encouragement when you step out in faith to do what Papa is telling you to do or to help hurting people or to follow His agenda.
Satan usually attacks through different people who may even be close to you, just to discourage you. You will sometimes have opposition from even those close to you.
David's brother called Eliab, was jealous and scolded him trying to make him look insignificant and evil.
Saul said he was only an adolescent while this giant had been a warrior from his youth, so lacking in experience. Saul judged David by the outward. Then Saul tried to make him wear his own armour.
People will judge you wrongly and try to turn you into something else to suit themselves. They will give you their ideas which may not have anything to do with God's Agenda.
But David remained faith-filled by recounting past testimonies with the Lord.
David unequivocally followed God's Agenda because of his love and intimacy for Him, and God fulfilled His promise to David to the end, despite his shortcomings, by raising up Jesus from David's bloodline.
WE SHOULD DESIRE MORE INTIMACY WITH OUR HEAVENLY PAPA WHO HAS DEMONSTRATED HIS UNFAILING LOVE FOR US. THIS WILL ENABLE US FULLY FOLLOW HIS AGENDA AND FULFIL HIS PROMISES OVER US.
